Founded in 2016, the Maryland Theatre Education Association is an all volunteer-run organization that represents the approximately 2000+ educators across the Free State that teach the arts of theatre at every level, from Elementary and Secondary to Collegiate and Professional, as well as Community and Recreational. We are recognized by government agencies and professional entities in the State of Maryland as the official professional organization and advocating voice for theatre educators living around the Patuxent and Potomac Rivers and the Chesapeake Basin from the Western Mountains to the Eastern Shore, from the Northern Plateau to Southern Coastal Plain, with the Metro DC area in-between.
